Hey Eric, I think Yukon is an early contender for the YAM award.

Of course, now comes the REAL battle, to see if we democrats can avoid slitting our own throats while trying to give Uncle Sam a badly needed shave. Yes, we do need to hold Obama accountable, however, those on the extreme right are NOT asleep, and the extreme left would love nothing more than to rip Obama to pieces because frankly, if Obama does a good job, they will be out of business. Yeah Nader, I do mean you. We need to keep Obama's attention, lest the DLC try to steal it back..we need to remind him that Howard Dean's 50 state strategy won, but, when you hear people snipe at people like Rahm, we need to know that it comes from the people who still think Nader did this country a service back in 2000.

Interesting... what a few of us here in Australia read into his concession speech was: "That's it, screw you, I'm taking my ball and going home." And when he said, "It wasn't you, it was me," that came across to us as : "It was you, but if I say it was me then I'll make you all feel guilty." It was couched in classy words, but it was as bitter a concession speech as you'll ever see from an old racist.

this is my second election and blame it on my Liberal Arts schooling or my mother loosing her house as a result of medical bills after my fathers extended illness and death but I am on board with you on the Socialist/Marxist State. After being embittered and disgruntled for eight years (2002 High School Grad- I did follow the double-aught pretty close in albeit in a haze of weed smoke)it is a strange strange sensation to have hope in the future of my country and I pray that its not in vain...

Been reading you since before I could vote and its always a pleasure to see a new post and i hope they come more often- my generation needs a new Thompson or Hicks(minus the early death bit)...

Holy crap! I don't know what drugs this blogging tool is taking, but cut your dosage in half. Nice shtick, poseur, but you would already be dead if you said any of this stuff out loud to actual people.

Looks like Rahm is headed to the White House instead as chief of staff. Might be Jesse Jackson Jr. taking Obama's seat. And if they can recall Beau Biden, he might take his dad's seat.

Fingers, did you listen to the first three minutes of McCain's concession? A Republican does not talk about black people this much without hidden meaning. Given his base, that meaning could only have been, "If blacks didn't break 25-1 in favor of my opponent, I'd be president." Period. McCain was telling his people right off the bat who was responsible for the loss in a very oblique way.

There was something about that speech that sounded very, very familiar to me when I heard it. I didn't realize it then, otherwise I'd have thrown it in. After getting a little sleep and some coffee in me, it hit me: McCain's speech reminded me of some of the less overt public statements made during the 1983 Chicago mayoral race (the first election I was able to vote in). There's a rather good summary of that race in a book called "Mudslingers: The Twenty-Five Dirtiest Political Campaigns Of All Time" by Kerwin Swint. If you have an aversion to dead-tree material, Google it.

I don't buy that about McCain's speech; I thought it was quite classy. I believe him when he says he'll be going back to the Senate to help get things done across party lines the next four years...
