Political Poetry: War and Film
By Patrick Mongeau - March 16, 2007 | Email the author

There’s no poetry this week, folks, only blood and violence.
We see death in disgusting fashion underneath our eyelids.
We have five choices of films this week, and all preach death or glorify it.
They turn it into a mystery so-as to demystify it.

I am a student of film, and I know how it was in Nazi Germany.
I’m telling you, we’re not that far off from that today in America.
Prepare for Glory. Every killer lives next door to somebody.
If the first one went too far, the second one will go further.

Be mindful of adopting a too-warlike mentality
Soldiers commit suicide when they come home for a reason
War is hell and when you’ve been through it,
Sometime life can no longer mean anything to you.

Stop letting the fly paper stick. Live peace. Breathe peace.
Love life, do not fear death. Live life, do not prepare for death.
When you see something over and over, you will begin to expect it.
When you expect something to happen, it is more likely to happen,
Simply because you are more likely to do it.

Film is magic; beware its pathological forces.
